To celebrate the holidays, we wanted to share a little bit of our year.

Daniel and Sebastian, almost 5 years old, started going to kindergarten this year, and they love it. It is amazing to see them starting to read and write, and they have this whole life outside of the home. Daniel loves to tell stories, act and dance, and Sebastian enjoys making up characters and putting himself into stories. Both love to draw and paint and explore in the forest or along the coast near our home.

Edward wants to be a part of whatever is happening, and he is an excellent mimic, repeating back words and phrases to be part of the conversation. Turning two years old this last November, he is adding words and phrases to his vocabulary and is more expressive about what he wants every day. He is a funny little man who enjoys life.

Nothing much has changed for Mark this year: still teaching English and still enjoying it. He brought the trombone back from the States this year, so there are some odd sounds coming from the flat from time to time. Heini has had a wonderful autumn with Edward and the rest of the family in the evenings. She blogs (http://heini-tila.blogspot.com/), studies creative writing and does volunteer work with the young women at church.

Lomaa ja joulua juhlistaessamme haluamme kertoa hieman vuodestamme.

Daniel ja Sebastian, melkein viisi vuotta, aloittivat englannin kielisen kindergartenin/leikkikoulun tänä vuonna Markin koululla ja tykkäävät siitä tosi paljon. On ihmeellistä seurata heidän luku- ja kirjoitustaito-oppimista ja sitä että heillä on nyt tuo koko oma juttunsa kodin ulkopuolella. Daniel tykkää kertoa tarinoita, näytellä ja tanssia ja Sebastian nauttii roolihahmojen keksimisestä sekä hänen itsensä laittamista mukaan eri tarinoihin. Molemmat tykkäävät piirtämisestä ja seikkailuista metsissä ja rannoilla kotipiirissämme.

Edward haluaa olla osana kaikkea mitä taphtuu hänen ympärillään. Hän on loistava imitoija myös keskusteluissa matkien sanoja ja fraaseja. Hän täytti kaksi marraskuun lopulla ja puhuu kokoajan enemmän ja enemmän ja kertoo mitä hän haluaa. Edward on hauska pikku mies, joka nauttii elämästä.

Markin vuosi ei ole ollut kovin paljon tavallisesta poikkeava. Hän opettaa yhä englantia ja yhä nauttii siitä. Mark toi vetopasuunansa takaisin Amerikasta tänä vuonna ja soittelee sillä kotonamme aina välillä. Heinillä on ollut mukava syksy Edwardin kanssa ja iltaisin muiden perheen jäsenten kanssa. Hän pitää blogia: http://heini-tila.blogspot.com, käy kirjoituskurssilla ja toimii vapaaehtoisena kirkolla nuorten naisten parissa.
